Boys U11 - The 2008 Elite Cup Champions!
Congratulations ~ Arsenal FC-S Boys U11 - The 2008 Elite Cup Champions!
The AFC-S boys captured the 2008 Elite Cup Bu11 championship by going undefeated. Their first game was a 1-0 nail biting win over a determined Corona United team. AFC-S scored in the first minute, on their first shot. The lone goal stood up. The second game was a FC Murrieta/AFC-S showdown. Our boys triumphed over their newly formed, valley rivals 5-0. Sunday morning brought about the most exciting game of the weekend. Scripps United opened the scoring about halfway through the second half, but with less than 2 minutes left, AFC-S knotted the score with a long-range missile. The 1-1 tie kept both teams tied for first with one game remaining. The fourth game pitted the boys against the high scoring Wolves soccer club. After the explosive Wolves took the early lead our boys came back to take a 2-1 halftime lead. AFC-S put themselves in prime position with an early second half 3rd goal. Then the Wolves came storming back. They were able to get one back, but could not overcome the deficit; final score 3-2. But the Champions would not be crowned until Scripps United Vs Corona United's game 2 hours later. Their 2-2 tie clinched the championship for Arsenal FC-S.
Arsenal FC-S Bu11 boys have had a productive Summer tournament schedule; Crusader's Cup semi-finalists, Arsenal Summer Classic and Poway Country Shootout finalists and now Elite Cup Champions.
Congratulations Coach Justin and team. Good luck at the West Coast Futbol Classic.
