Need for Speed
The team is excited to welcome Brianna Kelly to the SWSC roster. Brianna is one of those players who will be a great addition to the team - adding more speed, ball control, and ball distribution skills to an already talented midfield. Brianna comes from a great neighboring club but now gets to display her skills in the Coast League where the Elite play, and next season in the Gold division where select few are able to make their mark. Welcome Brianna! We are excited to add your name to our roster and are sure that your contributions will elevate the team another big notch...... Bri got game!
Silver Elite Champs
The team rallied for almost double the 10 points they won in the first half of the season by not settling for ties and winning almost all of their games in the second half. They jumped past OJSC and NHB in a tough battle to see who would rise to the top. Contibutions were many, from the entire roster. Next on the agenda is more tournament play and National Cup play to get ready for next year in the Gold division. The girls will have to work hard in Gold next season as they move on to a higher and harder division. But, for now, they will enjoy the crowning glory of winning SES. Way to win the division in style!
Let Them Eat Cake
Another good start in league cup play against a RSMSC team ended in an easy 4-1 triumph. The long break between games on a sleepy Saturday left SWSC flat for their second game against a spirited Glendora Red team that won most of the 50/50 balls and controlled the tempo of the game. Glendora Red won that second game 2-0 and went on to the next level of League Cup. SWSC exited much earlier than last year's run into the final 8 and didn't get any Blues this year. This year's early exit from League Cup left the team soured but hungry to improve next time.
For a Few Goals More
Half of the league season is over and the team got 10 points the hard way. After playing each of their league opponents the team finds itself in 3rd place behind OJSC and NHB in a tight group. Angela led the scoring with the first goal of the new campaign and then passed the torch to Amber who leads all scorers on the team. The team has most of their remaining games at home and look to play at their top level in the weeks to come in order to compete for the top spot. Keen on repeating a run into the final 8 of League Cup, the team seeks to improve in the fundamentals of passing, tackling, trapping and scoring - It's so easy.......
First Blood
Angela scores the first goal of the new campaign on a free kick against the Eclipse. The team drew Eclipse1-1 in a tough evenly -played matchup to start league play.
Copa Del Mar Champions
Elite won this Carmel Valley championship with a shutout of all five opponents on the way to lifting the champion's trophy. The combined statistics for the five games were 17 goals for, 0 goals against, to notch a perfect 5-0-0 for the tournament. The games were played at several different fields in Carmel Valley with the championship game ending at the immaculate fields of Cathedral Catholic High School. The final against Bonita was a tough match against a spirited squad, ending in a 5-0 victory with goals by five different players against the Rebels. Coach Jenny (on crutches) was proud of the end result as she handed out champion's medals to all and encouraged continued hard work heading into upcoming league games. Keep working and conditioning girls! Thank you Ma'am, can I have another.
Northern Exposure
Two players who previously graced the fields of northern Riverside county are now on the SWSC roster. The team welcomes the addition to the 2007 roster of Amber and Brittany. Both are impact players who will make immediate contributions to the team with their work ethic, speed, and ball control. We are proud to have these two top-flight players added to the roster. As the team continues to gel, their impact will be very welcome to SWSC and big trouble for opponents. Thank you Amber and Brittany for selecting SWSC and for adding your talents to our team.
