ODP Players Chosen from Southwest Soccer Club

Chelsea Morales

Chelsea Morales, an 8th grader at Temecula Middle School, began playing soccer at the age of five. Her family is the ultimate soccer family. Her father coaches soccer and basketball and her two brother’s Brandon and Chad also play soccer. Chelsea was extremely happy to be selected for ODP. “It was like heaven! I felt I was the underdog because it was my first real tryout with ODP and this was my first year playing full time goalie with SWSC." When asked about her experience so far with ODP, Morales said, "OPD is very serious soccer!! The competition level is intense, and you have to play you’re “A” game 100% of the time. It is an awesome experience." Her ODP team went to Las Vegas in January and won the Regional event, playing six ODP teams from the western states region, and Morales never gave up a goal throughout the whole tournament.
Morales is well aware that she could not have reached this goal on her own. She credits her parents for driving her all over Southern California for training, practices, scrimmages, games and tournaments. Morales also credits her parents for pushing her to be a better player. She said, “They always support me in everything I do!” In addition she credits her Southwest Soccer Club coach, Jenny Lawlor, her unbelievable skills trainer, Heidi Hornsveld, and the best goalie trainers ever, Pete Gregory and Zak Abdel, along with her ODP coach Richard Boon.
Chelsea is looking forward to playing soccer next year at Temecula Valley High School and hopes to play soccer in college and eventually play professional soccer.
