SWSC GU12 Blue “Premier” are Golden at the 2006 Celtic Cup!

The SWSC Girls U12 Blue Premier are this years champions of the 2006 Celtic Cup. Celtic Cup is one the most sought after titles in competitive youth soccer. Considered the premium tune up tournament for a number of State Cup Championships, Celtic Cup drew teams from all over the nation. Fifty-six of the nations top teams competed for the coveted titles in the top two flights. SWSC Girls were seeded in the Shamrock division, which consisted of CSL Gold, Silver Elite and Presidio Premier teams. SWSC Girls powered through their bracket at this year’s Celtic Cup Tournament, January 28th and 29th, at the San Bernardino Soccer complex, bringing home the First Place Trophy! The girls showed their strength and stamina as they battled two tough teams on Saturday, Samba Blue (CSL Siver Elite) and Albion White (Presidio Premier), ending Saturday’s games with two 1-1 ties. Southwest Premier Girls had no choice but to beat their opponent on Sunday in order to move out of the bracket. The girls showed their strength as they clearly overpowered the bracket leader Hot Spurs (Presidio Premier) from beginning to end, winning with a 2-0 shutout! The Semi-Final competition against Power Soccer Club (CSL Gold) was truly exciting. The teams were well matched. At the end of regulation play the score was tied 0-0. The players were ordered to stay on the field and immediately go into a penalty kick shoot-out to determine the game winners. With the pressure on, intensity and anxiety up, South West Girls arose to the occassion. They won the shoot out, which went 10 players deep with 5 players per team in a sudden death shoot out. This spectacular outcome catapulted the South West Girls into the Championship Final against Blast SC (CSL Silver Elite) one hour later. Once again the South West Premier Girls dominated the field, scoring early and holding the lead. The final score 2-1 SWSC. With their success at Celtic Cup the SWSC Blue Premier U12 Girls are hard at work preparing for Nationals. The team’s hopes are high and the goal is set to bring Temecula Valley its first ever National Championship. Congratulations SWSC GU12 Blue, and continued success in Nationals!
