SWSC Girls U14 State Cup Champs The Southwest Soccer Club Girls U14 team captured the title of the State Cup Champions on April 27,2003. The team started their quest for the Cup in Lancaster by defeating Inland United, Coastal Quest, and Rancho Santa Fe Attack. They then advanced to the second weekend of play, where they defeated CSC Spirit White and Beach Soccer to get to the quarter finals. The girls played with heart and came out ahead 2-1 over DBWV Rush after 2 overtime periods and PK's. The team advanced to the semi-final where they beat the Hotspurs 2-1, for a chance to play in the finals. On Sun.
April 27,2003, the team traveled to the CYSA soccer complex in San Bernardino where they played the Encinitas Express. The girls from Southwest Soccer Club again played with determination and drive and dominated the game to defeat Encinitas 2-1. This is the first State Cup title for a girls team in the young history of the Southwest Soccer Club. The team is coached by Moulay El Bekraoui who felt all along the girls had the talent to accomplish this goal, and after some intense training, a few big wins early in the tournament, and a lot of support the girls also began to believe in themselves and were able to achieve the coveted title of State Cup Champions.
