SWSC BU16 Team Excels in State Cup Play
The Boys Under 16 team had a great state cup tournament advancing all the way to the round of four (semi-finals). The team started play at the San Bernardino Complex on April 5 & 6. Their first opponent was the CVU Rangers, we won our game with the score being 4-0. Second game was played against Apex Alliance and again we came out with a win with the score being 5-1. They were lucky to get the silly goal against us that they did only because we made one little mistake. That is all it takes for the other team to score on you. Game three came along after a long break in between games and our opponent for this game was CVU Clash. Clash won this game with the score being 2-1. The two teams were really evenly matched. This put us in second in our bracket which took us to Lancaster the next week end. We played four games this week end with several kids having injuries. Though there were so many injuries, the team really pulled together to get as far as they did. Our first game was against California Legends 86 Boys and we walked away with a win with the score only being a 1-0. That is all it takes though to take the win. We had another game in line for us on Saturday which was against PSC Thunder. This was another evenly matched game but we took the win with another 1-0 victory. Our team came back on Sunday with the thoughts in their heads that we had a tough team to play and we need the win. Our opponent for this game was PV Raiders and it was another tough team. There was no score for the first half. We came back in the second half working really hard to get a goal. Finally near the end of the second half, Adam Raish came down the line tricked the sweeper of the opposing team and chipped the ball over the goalie as he came out to get the ball. The sidelines went wild. This goal could not have come too soon as the opposing teams sweeper was really talking dirt to our players letting them know we were no good. We let them know that we were just a little bit better by looking at the score board with our victory of 1-0. Again Sunday afternoon we came back for another game. We played against our rivals from down south. Pegasus was our next team to try to beat. Unfortunately, Pegasus took us out of the match. They were fortunate enough to get two goals in the first half with them having the wind going for them. The second half was a scoreless half which made the Pegasus team have the luck to move into the finals. It was a very cold and windy week end in Lancaster. I am so proud of them all as they all worked so very hard to get to where they ended up. This lost was in the semi finals. We will come back again next year with a brand new show.
