Local Heroes Part 5

In this weeks Local Heroes Sniffer & Monty have done a fantastic job for the club over the seasons here and if we have more players come through the ranks like these two. The club will have a good long term future.

1. You are now in your 4 season With Southwest what have been the highs & lows for you as a Player?

Sniffer: The highs are it is a good club with and a good team when we play as a team and the extra activities we do.…the lows it is not fun when we don’t play as a team.

Monty: The lows occurred during the season that I didn't play as much as I desired. The highs were repeatedly winning tournaments and my trips to Danville and England.

2. Going into High School season what is the Difference playing for School & Club?

Sniffer: Club is better soccer than H.S. as we train year round. High school is more like kickball when you play teams out of the area.

Monty: The main difference between the two is the physical level of play. Due to the fact that you're playing against older peers

3. What players have you enjoyed playing with at Southwest and If you had the chance what Players Shoes Would you like to fit in for a day?

Sniffer: I have enjoyed playing with Andy Pauley…and I would like to wear…….Christiano Renaldo boots for a day.

Monty: I have enjoyed playing with just above everyone. All the kids are good people and I wouldn't mind being in any of their shoes for a day.

4. Have you always been a midfield player and what advise can you give to the younger Players who would like to play the position?

Sniffer: Yes I have always been a mid fielder…..advice would be to never give up.

Monty: . During my beginning years of playing the worlds greatest sport, I played forward. Since I joined club soccer, I have developed into a midfielder. My advice to the youngers would be to make sure that you are physically fit and efficient in both offence and defense. Be sure to play with composure work hard at every practise. It definitely pays off on the pitch

5. Looking back over the last couple of seasons has any games really stood out in your mind?

Sniffer: At U16 level we played Del Mar Sharks and in a game that we needed to win, I scored in the last 2 minutes of the game, then cleared one off the line from a corner. I also enjoyed playing with the Developmental team for a couple of Tournaments to help improve the players.

Monty: Last summer we defeated the Crusaders in a 1-0 victory in the tournament finals. The team worked hard as ever and I was fortunate enough to score the games only goal.

6. What are your long term goals as a player?

Sniffer: Keep playing…hopefully college and more

Monty: My long term goals include winning a CIF championship for TVHS, collecting a scholarship and hopefully going pro.

7. Could you see yourself Coaching down the road?

Sniffer: Yeah

Monty: Yes, that is one of my possible career choices

8. What advise can you give to the younger players in the club that want to make High School?

Sniffer: Work hard and keep your grades up.

Monty:If the high school you're attending has a summer camp, you should make your best effort to go. The exposure will get you noticed. Always work hard because coaches notice the extra effort. NEVER GIVE UP!
