CONGRATS To the September Players of the Month!!!

Each month during league, the coaches are asked to select a player from each team who displays the effort on the field that represents what SWSC is all about – Believe and Achieve!!! These players are dependable, dedicated, responsible, committed, and passionate. They work hard at every training session and game with pride, desire and heart. They set the standard for their teams and strive to win on and off the field. Below is the list of each player selected for the month of September! Their coaches have given a few sentences summing up their contributions to their teams. Congratulations to each of these players! We are so proud that you are wearing our SWSC jersey! Keep up the good work!!!

~Jenny Lawlor and Jeremy Healey

BU8 White – Andrew Casals “Andrew is developing into a strong defender. He is a consistent performer.” ~Coach Healey

GU9 White – Abby Nobiensky “Abby Is a player that has great maturity and vision for an eight year old. She is very smart on and off the ball, often making good decisions. She displays great respect toward her teammates and coach. There is no other player I feel more confident in center defense then Abby. During practice she always asks questions and after practice she always asks what she needs to work on. Her passion for the game at such a young age is exciting for a coach. I feel Abby should be recognized for her motivation and love for the game as it shows in her play.” ~ Coach Cortez

BU9 White – Brian Gonzalez “Brian has been the "Anchor" of this team. In my opinion, he is one of the best players in his age group in Southern California. He is without a doubt what SWSC is all about. He is usually one of the first players to show-up for practice and games and he is always involved in team/club functions. Always willing to improve on his technical skills, Brian stays after practice and continues to kick the ball around. He also plays in the BU10/BU11 Blue team scrimmages. This demonstrates WORK ETHIC, COMMITMENT, DEDICATION, PASSION, HEART and DESIRE TO BE THE BEST!! All this could not have been possible without the complete commitment and dedication from Brian's parents. Thank you Martin & Elvie!” ~Coach Moss

GU10 White – Michelle Driotez “Michelle shows dedication at all training sessions. She demonstrates on the field everything that is taught at training and consistently works hard at games. Michelle averages 1-2 goals per game.” ~Coach Solis

BU10 White – Mateo Thompson “Mateo is one of 3 returning player who has been a vital part of this year's team. As one of the Team Captains, he has demonstrated his leadership traits by setting the example to the rest of the team. He is usually one of the first players to show-up for practice and games, always involved in team/club functions. He is always willing to improve on his technical skills - staying after practice and continuing to kick the ball around. From time to time, he also practices with the BU9 team before his own team practice. This is certainly what SWSC is all about. Once again, I give full credit to Mateo's parents for his development as a player but most importantly their commitment to the team and to SWSC. Thank you Erik & Yi-Fen!” ~Coach Moss

GU11 White – Sydney Rose Galbraith “Sydney is dedicated, attending every session and training 4 1\2 hours per week. She has improved her juggling, getting 53 consistently. She uses moves in the games that have been taught that week in training. She also has improved tremendously in her fitness level.” ~Coach Solis

BU11 Elite – Braeden Clewis “Braeden has shown great passion and leadership skills both at practice and at games. He always pushes himself to be his best!” ~Coach Chavez

BU11 Blue – James Scott-Solache “James is a very hard worker at practices and in games and he has improved a lot.” ~Coach Nitti

GU12 White – Megan Bernhard “Meggie has made huge strides in her development technically and tactically. Coming from the recreational side she has proven to be a leader and hard worker on and off the field. She puts 110% into every session and is dynamic in the games she plays. The exciting thing about Meggie is that in the short period that she has been with SWSC her progress has grown tremendously. Her passion and work rate are a coaches dream and it reflects in the way she plays. Her fine attributes I feel should be recognized and rewarded.” ~Coach Cortez

BU12 White - Shiloh Leauranti “Sherlock has set an example to his squad with his performance in league games.” ~Coach Gregory

GU13 Elite – May Wilson “May is a delight to coach, giving 110% at every training session and in every game with a smile on her face the entire time. She is always looking to improve herself as a player – by touching the ball and coming early to training to kick around with whoever shows up. May has been moved to a new position this season (outside back), and she has dominated every match up. She has welcomed the change and worked so hard to perfect it. She is striving for greatness each day to a point that she has gained a huge amount of respect from each of her teammates. They let me know how much they look up to her for her high work rate and constant efforts. I asked my team captains a number of questions to help me select a player and May’s name popped up numerous times. It says volumes about her to have impacted her peers in this degree. May is a player that we depend on and I am proud to select her for our 1st Player of the Month this season. Keep up the good work, May!” ~Coach Lawlor

GU13 White – Sarah Romano “Sarah consistently works hard in every game and is fearless at her defensive spot.” ~Coach Wilson

BU13 Elite – Jeremiah Speck “Jeremiah is a solid defender, who leads by example.” ~Coach Gregory

GU14 Elite – Paige Saxton Getty “Paige is playing in a new position since the start of the season .She has adapted very quickly and very efficiently, Halfway through the season she continues to be in the top 3 players on a consistent week to week basis. This young lady has the potential to play at any level she so chooses in the future.” ~Coach Boon

GU14 White – Demi Tsambasis “Demi has shown superior effort in each game and each practice. As Co-Captain, she has been a leader on the team.” ~Coach Shaw

BU15 Elite – Connor Dreschler “Connor is Skipper by name and Skipper by nature.” ~Coach Healey

BU15 White – Tim Rens “Time scored 6 goals in 3 games and was a hero in our game against the Hawks.” ~Coach Gregory

BU15 Blue – Luke Voss “Vossy plays left back. He is a very solid defender, a good tackler and a great reader of the game. He is always the first to practice and the last to leave. Due to his dedication, attitude and discipline, Vossy is always one of our top performers.” ~Coach McBride

GU15 Elite – Jo Jo Dumlao “The team has had a rough start however I love to watch the passion, drive, and level that JOJO plays at. JOJO has become a player who is fun and exciting to watch, as she can change a game at any time.” ~Coach Boon

BU16 Elite – Jose Cardoza “Jose shows an excellent attitude and is a consistent performer.” ~Coach Healey

BU16 White – Chris Vilter “Chris has been a strong, steady player in the back line. His positive attitude and work rate is a coach’s dream.” ~Coach Stromberg

GU16 Elite – Ashley “Siggy” Tousignant “Ashley demonstrated her commitment to improve every practice through working hard and focusing while in training. She has been asked to play in multiple roles and various positions and never once hesitated to do so in order to help the team. Her performance has been consistent with her efforts while playing in 4 different positions on the field. Ashley has been a great example for her teammates during practice and while playing Coast Premier League with the SWSC GU-16 Elite soccer team during the month of September. Well done Ashley (Siggy)…Keep it up!” ~Coach Caligiuri

BU19 White - Taylor Peters “Taylor has scored 8 goals in the first 4 league games, leading the league. He has brought much needed intensity up front.” ~Coach Stromberg
