The Future Looks Bright for SWSC

September 2006 - There are many exciting changes happening at the John Blanche Memorial Soccer Complex, located on Diaz Road just north of the Temecula city boundary, which will change the landscape of soccer in the Inland Empire Valley. When John Blanche Memorial Soccer Complex opened in the Fall of 2002, there were only 200 players, 8 fields and dirt roads on the then 42-acre site. Fast forward to 2006, 4 years later, there are over 500 players and the complex is now over 50 acres. JBMSC has added an improved road and parking lot that is dust controlled, expanded the field area to include 3 new full size fields. Once all the work is completed there will be about 25 fields. Once completed, the parking lot will be lined with parking spaces to maximize the number of cars and help provide more control in the parking lot. Also in the works for JBMSC are a SWSC Clubhouse, bathrooms and a newly paved road coming off Diaz up to our gates which should be completed in the next 4 to 5 months. “With all of the improvements at John Blanche Memorial Soccer Complex, Southwest Soccer Club will be able to host many high level tournaments and host more State Cup and National Cup games, “says Jenny Lawlor, Girl's Program Director of Southwest Soccer Club. “Lights are the next big project,” says SWSC Board President Greg Michaels. “With adding lights to the facility we can expand practice times and even offer games under the light! The addition of lights will definitely make JBMSC one of the premier complexes in all of California John Blanche Memorial Soccer Complex annually hosts the Winter Classic, Summer Classic, and the new Southern California Premier Cup for Southwest Soccer Club. In addition, this year JBMSC hosted Cal South State Cup, National Cup, Hansen’s Labor Day Classic, the Toyota College Classic, and ASC Alliance Summer Challenge. Other local area soccer clubs and organizations, such as AYSO 1463,Temecula United, Intra-Murrieta and Wildomar Blaze, have taken advantage of the spacious complex by holding all of their home games and practices at JBMSC. The complex is also the home field for the Southwest Adult Soccer League which has grown to 32 teams and has close to 400 players. The Southwest Adult Soccer League also holds the annual Temecula Holiday Soccer Classic in December. This year, John Blanche Memorial Soccer Complex is projected to host well over 100,000 visitors to Temecula. So not only does Southwest Soccer Club get more exposure but the surrounding communities and businesses of Temecula and Murrieta will benefit from the revenue generated by visitors coming to JBMSC to watch and play soccer.
