Southwest Soccer Club Girls U12 finished Top 8 at the 2006 USYS Cal South National Cup!!!!

SWSC U12 Premier Girls coached by Greg Michaels advanced to the quarter finals at the 2006 Cal South National Cup. Very few teams from our valley have been able to claim this great accomplishment. California’s top 8 teams consist of 2 Presidio Soccer League Premier teams, 6 Coast Soccer League teams - 3 Gold, 3 Silver Elite.

SWSC’s U12 Premier girls advanced through the entire tournament play with only 1 goal scored against them. In Bracket play, the SWSC girls beat the San Bernardino Blast (CSL Silver Elite) 2-0, Tied Canyon PSA (CSL Silver) 0-0 and lost a tight match up with California’s #1 ranked team - So. Cal Blues (CSL Gold) 0-1. In the round of 16, SWSC’s Premier girls faced Riverside Power (CSL Gold), whom they beat on the road to Championship at the San Bernardino's Celtic Cup Tournament in January, for yet another tough battle. The game ended in a 0-0 tie after regulation play and 2 overtime periods. The Southwest girls finished on top with a victory in penalty kick shootout, final score of 4PK's to Powers 3PK's. The SWSC girls fought yet again in the quarter finals through another 0-0 finish in regulation, and overtime. This time they could not prevail in the grueling shootout and lost to the So. Cal Blues Blue (CSL Silver Elite) 5 PK's to SWSC 4 PK's. The strong finish for the SWSC girls has also brought them National Recognition.

As of May 9th 2006, nationalsoccerranking.com has ranked the team 44 in the Nation, 12 in the US Western Region and 7 in Southern California.

Over Memorial Day the girls will battle with 24 of the Nations top teams for another title at the 2006 Cerritos Memorial Challenge Cup. Good Luck SWSC U12 Premier Girls, we look forward to your continued success in the coming season. You make the club proud!
